  • All guests will be asked to sign a waiver form.

  • All guests require a valid Alberta Fishing License (See below)

Starting the Day

High River is a small town just 35 minutes south of Calgary City Limits. It has a lot of small town charm with the quietness and convenience of a Southern-Alberta ranching/farming community. Nestled in the Foothills, High River offers easy access to the Highwood River and other incredible streams.  If your fishing the Oldman River we can arrange to meet in Longview or further south if you prefer.

All trips will require a liability form signed for all participants prior to setting off for the trip.

Fishing Licence

WIN card and a Fishing Licenses are required to fish within Alberta's water bodies.  You need a license with you during the trip.  Please follow the link below as ESFA cannot arrange this for you.

If meeting in High River we can purchase at Fly's Etc. and check out all their gear.

What To Bring

FISHING GEAR- Rods, Reels.

Feel free to bring your own rod and reel.  We recommend a 4-6 weight but if needed ESFA has a variety boat rods and reels that can be used.

WADERS

We highly recommend bringing breathable waders for our Walk n' Wade trips.  They are not needed on a guided raft trip for most of the season.  Ask ESFA for more info.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Shoes

We recommend water shoes for in and out of the boat.  Or even sandals for the hot summer days in late July and August.  Wading boots would be the preferred footwear for our Walk n' Wade trips.

Clothing

Long underwear both top/bottom are nice for early mornings in July and later season fishing.

Wading Boots

Studded boots are not allowed in our rafts for obvious reasons.  Please remove all studs prior to your float with ESFA.

All personal gear and boots should be sterilized before fishing.

Hat/Sunglasses

Great for protection from the sun and helps make visibility better.  Don't forget to bring some polarized sunglasses to help spot fish.

Rain Gear

It can rain in southern Alberta so have a jacket on hand just in case

PHONE/CAMERA

ESFA will have dry bags available to put valuables in if needed.  Bring your own if you have it set up already.

LIFE JACKETS - We Provide One

Life jackets are a required safety item for everyone on the raft.  We will fit you with a life jacket for the day. We carry other safety equipment for the day as well and will discuss this prior to any trip.
